The Gospel In Me: September 25, 2016
Before every baptism we have the privilege to hear stories of how God has saved people in our church and community through the gospel. In order to encourage one another, we will be posting these “gospel stories” after each baptism!
James Wills (12th Grade)
I have been coming to church ever since I was born. I would say I was a Christian, and would think I was a Christian because I came to church, I prayed, I read the Bible. But what I didn’t realize was that I needed Jesus to truly be a Christian, to truly be saved. I realized I wasn’t really saved when I noticed I wasn’t committing time to God. I wasn’t acting like I really had Christ outside of church. I was acting like I knew more than others around me, and I was being vulgar around my friends. I started noticing my behavior, I repented, and I gave my life to Christ. I don’t have to feel guilty of the things I’ve done, because I have been forgiven of my sins. This baptism shows that I have died to my old self, and have been saved through Christ. As Paul says in Romans 6 verse 4 “We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”
