Men’s Fall 2009 Canoe Trip
UPDATED FOR DATE CHANGE TO OCTOBER 24.
Canoe Kentucky has a “Fall Foliage Trip” during October. Basically, it runs 6 miles down the Kentucky then into the Dix River. The Dix is the clearest river in the state (trout fishing). We paddle up to the dam. I am looking at Saturday October 24. It is Saturday only, from 11 AM to 4 PM. We would probably leave the church at 9:30 AM, back around 6:00 PM. Below is more info and links. Let Mark Roberts know who is interested. Price would be $45.00 which includes rental, guide, lunch and drinks.
Dix River Spectacular
The Dix River below Lake Herington is located right in the middle of the Kentucky River Palisades. These awesome cliffs rise over 250 feet out of the water, and continue their way up the Dix River. Many pioneers to Kentucky, including the great Daniel Boone, stood atop these cliffs to glass the beautiful landscape of Kentucky.
This trip is a wonderful opportunity to see one of the prettiest stretches of river anywhere in the bluegrass. Friendly and knowledgeable guides will entertain you with historical information about the area, as well as take care of all the logistics for the trip. All you need to do is relax, paddle and enjoy the day.
This trip takes approximately 4- 5 hours, and covers a distance of about 6 miles.
It is an up and back trip, so the put in is also the take out. It does include a one hour lunch break at the turn around point, lunch is included. This trip has scheduled dates, or can be arranged almost anytime for groups (Reservations made at least 7 days in advance are required).
